This run-of-river hydropower plant is located in Kasese District in Western Uganda. The Project commenced construction in March 2016 and achieved its COD by early April 2018.
In 2018 the Project delivered a total of 13.8 GWh of energy to the grid. During the first full nine months of operation (from April onwards), grid failures and outages were approximately equivalent to 12 % of the potential plant output (energy delivered plus deemed energy).
Adjusting for the partial availability of the power evacuation line, the cumulative energy output of the plant during 2018 would instead have been 15.7 GWh, approximately equivalent to 88 % of the average energy for the same nine-month period of operation estimated at application stage.
