This run-of-river hydropower project is located in Kabale District in South-Western Uganda. The Project commenced construction in September 2015 and achieved its COD by mid-May 2017.
During 2018, the first full calendar year of operation, the Project delivered 28.1 GWh of energy to the grid. Grid failures and outages were approximately equivalent to 12 % of the potential plant output (energy delivered plus deemed energy), slightly lower than the 14 % observed during 2017, but still relatively high. Adjusting for the partial availability of the power evacuation line, the cumulative energy output of the plant would instead have been 31.8 GWh, approximately equivalent to 101 % of the average energy estimated at application stage.
Combined with the output generated in 2017, the Project has so far delivered a total of 50.0 GWh to the Ugandan grid.
