This run-of-river hydropower plant is located in Kasese District in Western Uganda. The Project commenced construction in October 2015 and achieved its COD by the end of April 2018.
In 2018 the Project delivered a total of 30.4 GWh of energy to the grid. During the first eight full months of operation (from May onwards), grid failures and outages were approximately equivalent to 6 % of the potential plant output (energy delivered plus deemed energy) – the lowest outages reported for any of the connected GET FiT supported small hydropower projects.
Adjusting for partial availability of the power evacuation line, the cumulative energy output of the plant during 2018 would instead have been 32.9 GWh, approximately equivalent to 95 % of the average energy estimated at application stage.
